Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies
Crispy edges with a soft, chewy center - the ultimate chocolate chip cookie.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat: Heat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Mix dry ingredients: In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Cream butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
Combine: Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
Add chocolate: Fold in chocolate chips.
Shape: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around edges.
Cool: Let cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
Tips
- For chewier cookies, slightly underbake them (they’ll continue cooking on the hot pan)
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies
